TARGET - 35 FT FAST MOTOR BOAT

35ft FMB by British Power Boat

The photo depicts a standard Admirals Barge variant.

The arrangement differed in the various batches, with the aircraft tenders lacking the after cabin and the wheelhouse / cockpit varying depending upon intended use.

The likeness to the 37½ ft Seaplane Tender is evident in this photograph.

After her service with the Royal Navy, the craft was sold off through the Admiralty Disposals and was subsequently named TARGET. She was located for some years at the Penton Hook Marina on the Thames, and was converted to a river cruiser. The conversion was, however, very pleasant and externally the craft retained to a great extent her service appearance, with some additions / modifications to her cabin arrangements (see photo top of previous page). Unfortunately, as most owners of vintage wooden craft find out, upkeep is expensive, time consuming and is never ending. Despite looking in very good condition at Penton hook in February 1995, her owner(s) let her run down somewhat, and therefore in April 2001 they decided to hand her over to the BMPT in order that she may be preserved, restored and have a safe future.
